Privacy Policy
In short: we don't collect personal information and there are no accounts. Your game progress stays on your device. The App shows ads through Unity LevelPlay, which receives device and usage information to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, the App asks for your consent before ads load, and on iPhone and iPad it also asks before ads may track you. Buying No Ads turns off the ads between runs.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Cat Run game for iPhone, iPad and Android (the "App") handles information. The App is made by Nguyen Van Long ("we", "us"). We follow the Apple App Store and Google Play developer policies and, where they apply, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information through the App. The App has no sign-up, no login and no profiles, and it never asks for your name, email address, contacts or any other personal detail.
The App does not include analytics, crash-reporting or social media software. It does include the Unity LevelPlay advertising SDK, described in section 4, which collects information on its own behalf.
2. Information stored only on your device
To work, the App keeps a few things on your device. They are never sent to us:
- Your game progress: fish and catnip balances, best score, statistics, missions, upgrades, the cats, skins and fish you own, whether you own No Ads, a record of purchases already delivered so none is counted twice, and simple counters used to space out ads (number of runs, and free catnip videos watched today).
- Settings such as sound, music, haptics and the home screen background.
- Your answers to the ad consent and privacy questions (section 4), saved by Google's consent tool in the standard IAB format so the ad SDK can read them.
- The list of cats, their pictures and the cat models downloaded from our server, so cats you have opened before also work offline.
You can erase game progress in the App under Settings → Reset progress, or remove everything by deleting the App.
3. Downloading cats
The App downloads the list of cats, their pictures and their 3D models from our content server (r2.catrun.mainhi.win, run on Cloudflare). Like any website, the server receives the technical information needed to deliver a file, such as the device's IP address, the time of the request and the device platform included in the file path. We do not use this information to identify anyone, we do not combine it with other data, and we do not use it for advertising. Cloudflare may keep standard server logs for security and reliability; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
4. Advertising
The App shows two kinds of ads, served through Unity LevelPlay (formerly ironSource, operated by Unity Technologies):
- Rewarded videos that you choose to watch, for example for a free escape when caught, double fish, a double mission reward or a little free catnip.
- Full-screen ads between runs, shown only occasionally and never during a run. They are not shown to anyone who has bought No Ads or any other in-app purchase.
To show, limit and measure ads, the LevelPlay SDK and the ad networks it works with may collect information from your device, such as: the device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, only if you allow tracking; Advertising ID on Android), an identifier for this app on your device (IDFV on iOS), IP address and approximate location derived from it, device model, operating system, language, network and carrier, and how you interact with ads (which ads were shown, watched or tapped). This information is collected and used by Unity and its ad partners under their own privacy policies, not by us; we only receive aggregated reports about ad performance.
The ad networks currently used through LevelPlay are:
- ironSource Ads and Unity Ads (Unity Technologies) – privacy policy
- Google AdMob (Google LLC) – how Google uses information from apps that use its services
These networks may also work with other advertising partners to fill ad requests.
Your choices.
- Consent (iPhone, iPad and Android). Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland), the App shows Google's consent form before any ad is loaded, asking whether your data may be used for personalised ads. In those regions, consent is the legal basis for personalised ads. If you don't agree, you may still see ads, but they are not personalised. You can change your answer any time in the App under Settings → Ad privacy → Manage.
- US state privacy rights. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California), you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your information for targeted advertising in the App under Settings → Ad privacy → Manage. The App passes your choice to every ad network through LevelPlay.
- Tracking (iPhone and iPad). After that, iOS asks whether the App may track you across other companies' apps and websites. Only if you tap "Allow" is the device's advertising identifier (IDFA) available to ad partners. You can change this any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in the device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads).
- Buying No Ads turns off the full-screen ads between runs. Rewarded videos stay available only if you choose to watch one.
We do not sell personal information for money. The information collected by the ad SDK may count as "selling", "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some US state laws; you can opt out as described above.
5. Purchases
The App offers optional in-app purchases: catnip packs and No Ads. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and by Google Play on Android. We never see or receive payment details, your Apple ID or Google account, or other personal information; the store only tells the App whether a purchase was completed, together with a transaction identifier that the App keeps on the device so the same purchase is never delivered twice. Purchases that need a parent's approval (Ask to Buy or Google Play family approval) are only delivered once approved. See Apple's and Google's privacy policies for how they handle purchases.
6. Sharing your mugshot
After a run you can take a screenshot of your "mugshot" and distance. The picture is saved in the App's own temporary storage. On iPhone and iPad it is then handed to the standard iOS share sheet; what you share, and with whom, is your choice and is not seen by us. On Android the picture stays in the App's storage and is not sent anywhere.
7. Contacting us
If you write to us through the support page or by email, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, message and, if you add it, your device model. The support form also passes on the country your request came from, as reported by Cloudflare. We use this only to reply to you and delete it when it is no longer needed. Support messages are delivered by email using Cloudflare; nothing from the form is stored on the website.
8. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the support page, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. As we do not collect personal information through the App, there is usually nothing to provide, but you can always contact us and we will respond within 30 days. For information collected by the ad SDK, use the choices in section 4 or contact Unity through its privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects what information is collected, we will update the App's privacy details on the App Store and the Data safety section on Google Play before the change takes effect.
